Qualification Options
Paddle UK Paddlesport Instructor (previously British Canoeing)
This is an entry level qualification designed for people working on very sheltered water, to take groups for out for taster sessions and fun activities. It is open to everyone aged 14+ and can be completed in the craft of your choice – kayak, canoe or paddleboard.
After qualifying, individuals are required to assist in the running of a number of sessions to improve their skills specific to Paxmead.
Minimum Requirements:

Paddle UK Membership (this has to be maintained to keep qualification)

Paddle UK Paddlesport Safety and Rescue (PSR)

Personal paddling and rescue competence in your preferred craft
Estimated Cost:
£47 – Paddle UK Membership (annual commitment)
£100 – Paddle UK Paddlesport Safety and Rescue (1 day)
£48 – Registration onto Paddlesport Instructor Course
£210 – 2 Day Paddlesport Instructor Course
Paxmead can offer financial assistance for training. This requires a commitment to provide sessions at Paxmead once qualified. (i.e. £200 – 10 sessions)
Ongoing Personal Performance awards
Qualifying as a Paddlesport Instructor allows you to run sessions in your chosen craft (that you qualified in). Additional Personal Performance Awards can be taken to allow you to instruct groups from other craft. More information can be found on the Paddle UK pages:
