Our location on the River Thames makes it the ideal place to take to the water. We welcome groups that wish to hire our craft or bring their own craft and use our jetty.
Getting your group on the water
Self-led Paddlesports
Talk to us about hiring Paxmead for paddlesport sessions with your own instructors. We just require proof of qualifications.
All our craft, paddles and buoyancy aids are available to hire.

Site and Jetty Hire
For groups with their own equipment and instructors, Paxmead is a great site to launch and is available for evening and weekend paddlesport events.
Individual craft
For older, water confident participants we have lots of option for taking to the water as individuals or in pairs.
Paddleboarding
We have 6 paddleboards which can be used with 1 or 2 young people. These are ideal for Guides and Scouts
Kayaking
We have a variety of individual kayaks which are ideal for Guides and Scouts.
Sit-on-tops
Paddled like a kayak, our 6 sit on tops offer a great introduction to kayaking. Ideal for Guide and Scouts, and confident Brownies and Cubs
Canoes
Paxmead have 6 double canoes which are ideal for Guides and Scouts.
Multi-person craft
For groups with younger participants, low water confidence or additional needs we recommend using multi-person craft.
Giant Paddleboarding
We have 2 giant, 17ft paddleboards which can take 10 paddlers. Although fun for all ages they are well suited for Brownies and Cubs.
Kata kanus
We have 4 Kata Kanus with can each seat 6. These are ideal for Brownies and Cubs to have races and play games in.
Double Kayaks
Our 2 double kayaks are ideal for children with additional needs. An instructor can be paired with an individual to offer a safe kayaking experience.

Preference vs Practicality
When choosing a craft type, please be aware that our instructors will take into account the competency of the group, environmental conditions and the instructor’s qualifications. This may result in an alternative being used.
